The Inside Passage
Red Line
The inside passage runs from Puget Sound to Icy Strait Alaska, through the channels protected by the islands of Alaska and British Columbia.  These travels begin in Juneau, Alaska.  Juneau is surrounded by great cruising grounds with Glacier Bay only about 70 miles to the West and hundreds of islands, anchorages, and great sites.  The country is mountainous, so the winds are erratic and unpredictable.  The weather is generally cool and wet, though unlike areas away from the coast, the winters are not severe.  High winds and rain are common in the winter months, as is heavy wet snow.
